It is just twelve days since the Classy Cobs charity calendar web site officially launched and was opened up to the search engines.

And we are pleased to announce that today we have achieved twelfth position on Google.co.uk for the search term “2010 Naked Charity Calendar” – not bad for a little calendar from North Wales.

It is an achievement we are justifiably proud of. Normally, it can take months for a web site to get anywhere near the first page on Google. That is why so many owners succumb to the dreaded “Pay Per Click” to buy their way into the “Sponsored Listings” (Does anybody actually look at those?)

Worse still, they pay an SEO company on the promise of  “Number one on Google Guaranteed!”.  What they end up with is the Number One position for the search term “Joseph Llewelyn Bloggs Plumbing Services” as opposed to real world searches such as “Plumbers in Denbighshire”.

Search Engine Optimisation is not rocket science.  It is simply a matter of getting the right key words in the right place on the web site.  This very blog post is contributing valuable keywords such as Flintshire, Holywell and Clwyd. There I’ve said it!  Including town and county names helps when people do localised searches.

YOU can help

The more people who see the web site, the more chance they will buy the calendar, so you can help to by adding links back to the site from your own Blog, Facebook page, or Twitter Feed.  This also helps page ranking which takes incoming links into account when gauging the popularity of a site.

UPDATE: Just checked the stats.  Yesterday we achieved our highest number of hits to date.  289 unique visits – and that doesn’t include our own admin visits.  We can ony go from strength to strength!

Before even a single copy of the calendar has been sold, the girls have been busy fund-raising to meet the cost of the initial print-run.

In addition to receiving various donations and the procedes of fund-raising activities, they have colaborated with local businesses to raise sponsorship for the twelve pages of the calendar.

Thanks to these generous donations the full cost of the first print run will be covered which means 100% of the initial sales will be profit for the charity.

A full list of all the sponsors and all who have given their time and talent into producing the Classy Cobs Calendar, will be published here once the calendar has been officially launched.

All the pictures have been shot for our 2010 Charity Calendar.  It has the working title of Classy Cobs and was the brainchild of Shan Rowlands and Gwen Reid of the Llyn Helug stables in Lloc.

Jayne and I had two great fun days up at Bryn Hedydd Farm where we were blessed with decent weather for the shoot.  Although we did feel somewhat over-dressed in our wellies, jeans and tee shirts compared to the ten brave and lovely ladies we were photographing!

We have created this website as a flagship for the calendar.  There will be features about the shoot and all those involved, acknowledgment of the kind sponsors, details about the charity and, of course, a running total of the funds raised.

The blog section will carry contibutions from ourselves, the organisors and from the “Classy Cobs” themselves.

The more people that visit this site, the more calendars will be sold, so please: hit the RSS FEED button and bookmark us in your favourites.  Then go one further and send the link to everyone in your contacts list and to all your Facebook friends.

Next job for us is to finish the edits and get the pictures to the Printer.
